Warner Bros. are Reportedly Eyeing Female Directors for Supergirl and More Upcoming Female-Led Projects
After a shaky start for the DC Extended Universe, Warner Brothers have a long slate of solo films and spin-offs planned, many of them female led. The studio is reportedly wanting to get female directors for both Supergirl and the rest of their upcoming female films.
Deadline has recently shared the story, stating that WB was "very vocal about wanting to employ another female director," for the upcoming film.
With 22 Jump Street's Oren Uziel set to write the film, Supergirl most likely won't be seeing any huge directorial announcements anytime soon. We are probably at least a few months out from more info on who is set to direct the super-heroine, but Warner Bros. themselves seem adamant about sticking with a female director.
After the success of the female-driven and female-led Wonder Woman last year, the studio is definitely going to keep going with similar stories. Pattty Jenkins is set to return for next year's Wonder Woman 1984, currently in production, and they also have Birds of Prey coming up on their slate, which is set to star an almost exclusively female cast.
With new Wonder Woman, Birds of Prey, Supergirl, Harley Quinn, and Batgirl projects all in development, the future is definitely female over at Warner Bros.
